Garth Brooks Considers Politics After Haiti Trip

Country star Garth Brooks is considering a run for public office after witnessing the daily struggles for poverty-stricken Haitians firsthand.
The singer/songwriter admits his recent trip to the earthquake-ravaged nation made him realise just how lucky most Americans are - and how easily parts of the country could become mirror images of Haiti.
He tells Country Weekly magazine, "With a few bad decisions, my own country could be in that shape in a few years... If we cannot stop voting on what's Democratic and what's Republican instead of what's right or wrong, we are doomed. Maybe it'll be up to people like me to make it better."
Asked if he'd seriously turn his back on music to enter politics, Brooks says, "Yeah, sure! Everyone who's ever been an employer or a boss is basically leading people, so the thought of leading people doesn't scare me."

Lyrics : They Call the Thing Rodeo

His eyes are cold and restless
His wounds have almost healed
And she'd give half of Texas
Just to change the way he feels
She knows his love's in Tulsa
She knows he's gonna go
Well it ain't no woman flesh and blood
It's that damned old rodeo
Well it's bulls and blood
It's dust and mud
It's the roar of a Sunday crowd
It's the white in his knuckles
The gold in the buckle
He'll win the next go 'round
It's boots and chaps
It's cowboy hats
It's spurs and latigo
It's the ropes and the reins
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing rodeo
She does her best to hold him
When his love comes to call
But his need for it controls him
And her back's against the wall
And it's "So long girl, I'll see you."
When it's time for him to go
You know the woman wants her cowboy
Like he wants his rodeo
Well, it's bulls and blood
It's dust and mud
It's the roar of a Sunday crowd
It's the white in the knuckles
The gold in the buckle
He'll win the next go 'round
It's boots and chaps
It's cowboy hats
It's spurs and latigo
It's the ropes and the reins
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing rodeo
It'll drive a cowboy crazy
It'll drive the man insane
And he'll sell off everything he owns
Just to pay to play her game
And a broken home and some broken bones
Is all he'll have to show
For all the years that he spent chasin'
This dream they call rodeo
Well, it's bulls and blood
It's dust and mud
It's the roar of a Sunday crowd
It's the white in them knuckles
The gold in the buckle
He'll win the next go 'round
It's boots and chaps
It's cowboy hats
It's spurs and latigo
It's the ropes and the reins
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing rodeo
It's the broncs and the blood
It's the steers and the mud
And they call the thing rodeo

Final wishes to come true for Garth Brooks fan in L.V.

When superstar Garth Brooks returns to Encore Theater at the Wynn on Jan. 7, it will be a highly emotional performance. In the audience will be 25-year-old Brandon Regan of Illinois, who is dying from an untreatable brain disease. He is so ill that he can no longer walk or eat and has to rely on feeding tubes and a hospice nursing staff, but he’s determined to see his idol perform and take a night ride on the Strip.

The two are the last of his bucket list. Money from an October fundraiser for the trip was earmarked for funeral costs when his condition worsened. But 6,000 Facebook followers started a fund to provide transportation, hotel rooms, nursing staff and medicine to make the Las Vegas dream come true, particularly after Garth heard about it. Garth even called Brandon and sang “The Thunder Rolls” to him.

Medics have told Brandon’s family and friends that he’ll be able to make the final trip that the family believed wouldn’t happen. They travel here Jan. 6, see Garth on Jan. 7 and then ride along the Strip with Facebook donors before returning home Jan. 8. “It’s his dream -- it’s the only thing he’s asked for,” his father, Robert, said
